      Nothing improves performance better than a good set of wheels.  The problem is that good wheels normally cost a lot of money.Neuvations Owner developed wheel building in Asia for some of the world's top brands.  Neuvation wheels give you top level quality at lower prices because of low overhead, modest marketing, and focus on giving you the key aspects of a good wheel without all of the expensive fluff.

     It's the spokes. They not only look very cool, but the 2.3 dimension at the spoke bend does two important things. First, it means they're a lot stronger - with over 30% more material but just as importantly, they're a lot stiffer right where you need it. Instead of using straight pull or double threaded spokes, the extra width of the spoke at the bend gives the same benefits without the expensive hub machining caused by the other methods. One other key point is that unlike a straight pull or thread in, the spokes can be replaced with a normal (J bend) spoke if one breaks.

     Lightweight wheels at a great price. Neuvation has been working on this set for a long time. Finally, their rim maker, developed a 27 mm V rim that weighs only 420 grams. He did it by using a new alloy that allows him to make a thinner wall. They are now using a different spoke maker on all the Neuvation wheels and these are a 5.0 mm blade. Pretty sweet.

     Neuvation is using a new hub maker for the C and R series wheels. He's one of the few who have a proven track record of making hubs that dont break.

     While these wheels are not as durable as the M 28 Aeros (because theres not as much material in the rim), they are great wheels for racing or training.

     These are really nice lightweight wheels. Theyre the same as the R 28 Aeros except they use a lighter triple-butted spoke. The spokes are still oversize at the bend but are a normal round 1.7 mm in the middle. Compared to the R 28 Aero, theyre 100 grams lighter and have more spokes (four more in both the front and back).

     If you watched the Tour De France this year you may have noticed that all of the riders were riding carbon rimmed wheels. They make you go faster by being lighter and more aerodynamic. Neuvation uses the same hubs as the C series, but opt for a brutally expensive American made carbon rims and equally expensive Sapim CX Ray spokes.

     Some people might ask why Neuvation is offering this set of wheels. They run counter to their philosophy of great wheels for a great price. Thats true. It was done for three reasons. To make money, to have a set of wheels a pro would really ride, and to get into the carbon wheel business (which appears to be the future of high-end wheels).

     As the Chinese catch up, look for lowering price points on carbon wheels. For now, this is about as good as you can get for the money.

Now for the bad news. Most people will tell you that if youre 200 pounds you stand a good chance of cracking these wheels when you hit pot holes. They require special brake shoes which wear incredibly fast due to the hardness of the carbon. Brakes dont work as well on them. They are a lot more fragile than alloy wheels. Even the pros dont train on them.  (John Nugents quote) " My average speed is about 16 mph and these wheels would be a waste of money for me. If I were going 25 mph in a race these wheels would buy me speed. Its that simple."

     IMPORTANT: Carbon wheels require special brake pads. John recommends the Kool Stop green or black pads available at Cycle Shed if you need them.

 HIGH TECH QUICK Brand Levers

Quick levers open outside the fork bosses eliminating the need to adjust the skewers every time you remove or replace a wheel. This is not rocket science - just a very simple and different way to make a quick release.  It puts the quick back in quick release.

     The Front hub skewer has two locking positions and a set screw on the adjusting nut, Fits both Road and MTB hubs that use a standard skewer (not for oversize front axles).   The Rear has no set screw or lock but is the same shape and with the same graphics as the front. The rear fits standard 135 mm rear MTB hubs and can either be left as is for Road rear hubs (with an extra 5 mm of skewer sticking out) or can be cut off.     MSRP $35.00 per set
